The Gathering! (30)

This series is starting to wind down, so a few meandering thoughts…

When I started this quartet of one-act plays, I wasnt exactly sure what was holding them together (In case you didnt notice, I tend to work that way a lot). Eddie wanting to get rid of his wealth. Little Raymond dealing with his status as an adoptive kid. Mik finally dealing with his love for Raider. And Raider himself literally confronting his past and finding out it wasnt that bad. In all cases, we have people trying to finally accept their lives, good, bad, or indifferent.

I know a lot of people who have a tendency to look back and say what-if. I”m just as bad as the rest. What if I never left San Francisco. What if I accepted that job in the Yukon. What if I hadnt been such an idiot to tell the CBC that no, my proposed series has to be an hour, not a half hour (Dear god, what a moron…). Somehow we think that life would have turned out much better, that all the headaches we have today would never have arisen because going left instead of right would have realized a life that was full and joyous and —

Yeah. Uh huh.

We’re all at this moment in time: me writing this, you reading it, because that’s how events sorted themselves out. Doesnt mean we have to lay back and think of England, but just accept that while the past is written, the future might be waiting at the next bus stop.

OK, a couple of wrap up strips on this one, maybe a tad of filler, then — finally! — Elliot’s Was-Summer-Now-Autumn Blockbuster!!

Thanks, as always, for being here in this moment with me.
