New Year’s Resolutions! (7)

Doc is a bit ticked at the moment, and I”m not sure if it’s because I’ve taken his chair or his spotlight. Either way, I’ll make this as brief as I can.

2016 is going to be a milestone in the history of the Longest Running LGBT Comic Strip No ONe’s Ever Heard Of, as this will be its 30th anniversary. Hard to believe I’ve spent almost half my life with these two, but some long-term relationships are just meant to last, right?

As such, I’m planning on a year with (hopefully) a few surprises. It’s time to shake things up a bit in the DnR universe: nothing too serious — no redesign of the characters yet again — but considering this is also taking us into a banner year in the history of Canada, look for more Canadian emphasis as our little country continues to re-invent itself before the world after our last election. Nothing my non-Canadian readers wont understand (Well, okay, you’ll continue to need that basic French you learned in high school…), but with a few little Canuckian grace notes thrown hither and yon.

We’ll also hit 3500 episodes of the online version this year. That’s such a staggering number, even to me. In getting there, we’re going to do some experimentation with motion and video to give the strip a bit more liveliness on occasion: certainly during the forthcoming Ferro 2 storyline. The early sketch work on that looks promising.

But as always, I resolve to bring you storylines that can be, by turn, fun and slightly weird and harrowing and maybe even poignant. Part of the joy of doing a web comic is that you are indeed your own master when you create this stuff, and of late I’ve really wanted to push where our stories as LGBT folk can go. I hope you’ll stick around for the ride.

Okay, there’ll be one more cartoon in 2015, to be posted later today. Then… we’ll see you Next Year!

And thanks, as always, for being such great readers.

/Sean
