So glad you mentioned Fort Drum! I remember quite clearly the morning in 1973/4 when my truck was stopped as files of tanks headed across the border after Pierre Trudeau had called Tricky Dick Nixon over his abject panic at a possible Parti Quebcois victory and secession. I believe the tanks were stopped after they crossed the border, but not the St. Lawrence. It was never reported and only people as old as me remember this incident. I loved the new Brian Vaughan comic, WE STAND ON GUARD, which narrates another invasion of Canada among the many we Americans have attempted!
