The Gathering! (11)
A friend said to me tonight, “Your stories never seem to end.” — which is true, but then that’s kind of how life is, right? It’s not a 22-minute sit-com but a constantly evolving chain of inter-related events: things we do one year may not impact us again for three or four down the road, but… as we all know… they do.
So yes, there’s more to Raymond-François’ story, and we will tell it someday (assuming the strip lasts long enough for him to grow up a bit more). Still, I wanted to get Elliot and Gilles past this first hurdle that all parents of adopted kids have to get over. It’s never easy. I know that. I hope it didnt come across here as too facile or contrived: this is a serious moment, and it requires serious, sober consideration. Hopefully I’ve done right by this kid.
OK, more arrivals as the family congregates to see Elliot’s long-awaited film. And, of course, we’ll occasionally interrupt this with little one-offs and brief comments about recent events as they warrant.
*And*… ask me about the Doc and Raider Super-Secret Group at Facebook! Decoder ring! Handshake! It’s got everything!…
… but remember: it’s a secret!

I’m glad you posted that note. I couldn’t for the life of me remember if we’d been told about his birth and I’d just forgotten, or if we’d just never heard much about it.
