I wont claim this to be a startlingly original concept. The Women’s March on Washington had a whole slew of people holding aloft Liberty’s torch, and Peter deSevre, an artist whose work is awe-inspiring, did a similar thing as a possible New Yorker cover. My good friend Mike Csotd Peterson of comicstripoftheday.com would probably say that it’s a facile approach to a message, and maybe he’s right. It’s just that, like Sandra Boyton said in a meme traveling today on Facebook, “offer what light you can”.
