“Do you realize how long we’ve sitting here?”

“Yes,” I replied with as much patience as possible.

“And that there’s no power? No lights?”

“Yes.”

“And no heat?”

“Yes.”

“And no one has come along in God only knows how much time to tell us anything?”

“Doc — ”

“And that we both thought going to Munich for a day trip by train was a really cool idea?”

“… Does this mean I dont get blamed for this?”

“… Consider yourself lucky this time.”

I have been told horror stories about the trains in Europe: inefficient runs, lack of power, unexpected stops in the middle of the night for no discernable reason… and yet for the number of people riding them each day across the continent, they must be doing something right. By and large, the system seems to be well organized and efficient, if a little over crowded at times. One way people get around this is by buying a card at the beginning of the year that allows them to buy first class seats at highly reduced cost, rather than endure the mobs in coach. Apparently, this is how we’re traveling to Munich later today, so I’ll let you know how it goes.

As for the boys, we’re gonna let them chill — literally — for a bit. Besides, a darkened train car in the middle of nowhere on Halloween? Hmmmmmmmmmmm……….
