Celebrate! (12): 3,000 EPISODES!

celebration 12

Indeed, this is the 3,000 episode of the Longest Running LGBT Cartoon Strip No One’s Ever Heard Of… We’ll be doing a bit celebrating over the next couple of days to make up for the fact that the Real World got in the way of my organizing the kind of thing I really wanted for this occasion. Still, we hit the mark, with more or less regular online appearances almost every single day since the webcomic started in 2008. Add the print version, and we’re looking at well over 3,250… which means the boys and I have indeed been in it for the long haul.

There are a bunch of special thanks that need to go out, and we’ll be doing those over tomorrow and Monday… but to all of you (and you know who you twelve, possibly thirteen, are), I want to say thank you right now — for the feedback, the comments, the fan art, the shoulders when I was about ready to throw in the towel on this thing. I’ve tried to tell stories that would be engaging and fun and sometimes serious and nostalgic, and hopefully for you I’ve succeeded. I can always tell when a storyline isnt working or is making folks uncomfortable — the numbers plunge even lower than normal — but even as I’m continuing with it, someone somewhere will send me a little note thanking me to broaching the difficult or the strange or the straight-up WTF moments. Truly, you guys are the best audience a comics artist/writer could have, because you embraced my boys, warts and all.

So what’s in the future? Well, we keep doing what we keep doing and work to the next milestone, with more stories that try, as best they can, to give you something amusing or even thoughtful for the day. Thank you again, every single one of you.

FYI: the strip will be on possible vacation from the 6th to the 11th of May. I’ll be in NYC for the Queers and Comics Festival, as a presenter and as a reader… and I suspect the next storyline will be based on whatever happens at that event. I’m looking forward to it — if you’re in or near the NY area, drop by and say hello. The reading on Saturday is free and open to the public, and it’d be great to see you there.

OK, on to 3001…..
