In just the first half of 2015, the boys had a heated discussion about cigars, Eddie invested in what may be a summer blockbuster for Kai and Elliot, we met the strangely reclusive David, everyone went to see “Fifty Shades of Grey”, André received the government of France as a Christmas present, Doc shared his earliest writing, and Mik and Al got a stunning assessment from Kai about That Dress.

It was also a year when Doc and Ray found themselves, once again, before Congress when the US tried to stop same-sex marriage proliferating in Canada, and Mik nearly lost Kai and Al over a gym pick up (who, ironically, put them all back together). It’s been a relatively quiet year thus far…

But the big sea change was, of course, the re-design of the characters: taller, older, now with five fingers and forty pounds of muscle. It’s a bit of a return to the way Doc and Ray first appeared, in the print version in 1987, and it’s allowing me to explore each of them individually in terms of appearance: for example, Doc is slightly heavier than Ray, and Elliot has the beginnings of a spare tire, while Eddie has become somewhat whispier and shorter than André. It’s going to be interesting to see how these physical changes affect the characters as we rock and roll deeper into their world.

So what does this countdown mean, you ask? Where have all these coy backward glances taken us?
